Laser Dental Medical Equipment for ELEXXION Group
Partnership Overview
About ELEXXION Group
ELEXXION Group is a German independent R&D and manufacturing company specializing in high-power, high-frequency, short-pulse semiconductor laser treatment devices for dentistry. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of German elexxion AG, which was established in 2002 and has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2006.
ELEXXION's flagship product, the elexxion claros®, is an exceptionally innovative dental laser with a performance profile that places it at the top of its class. With an application output of up to 50 Watts and a repetition rate of up to 20,000 Hz, the claros® permits extremely high cutting speeds while virtually eliminating the possibility of tissue carbonization.
The claros® is a high-performance diode laser that features low penetration depth, making it extremely gentle to tissue. Its ergonomic multifunctional handpiece was specifically designed for exceptional ease of use — it sits comfortably in the hand and permits reliable, controlled cutting. The handpiece is autoclavable and permits economical use of disposable fibers.
ELEXXION Group has established itself as a trusted name in dental laser innovation, offering cutting-edge treatment solutions to dental professionals worldwide through its robust standalone device design.
What the ELEXXION Team Needed
ELEXXION Group approached SHBD Precision Parts with a strategic vision: establish a long-term manufacturing and assembly partnership to bring their next-generation laser dental equipment to global markets. ELEXXION needed more than a contract manufacturer — they sought a partner capable of co-engineering, precision manufacturing, and full device assembly under medical-grade quality standards.
The Kingmade engineering team at SHBD worked closely with ELEXXION's German R&D staff throughout the development and production ramp-up phases. The partnership demanded:
- Medical-grade manufacturing capability — production facilities and processes meeting stringent EU medical device quality requirements for laser therapy equipment
- Precision assembly of complex optoelectronic systems — integrating high-power semiconductor laser modules, control electronics, and cooling systems into a compact standalone device
- Reliable supply chain partnership — consistent component sourcing and inventory management to support ongoing production cycles without disruption
- Technical collaboration & co-engineering — close engineering coordination between SHBD's manufacturing team and ELEXXION's German R&D staff for design-for-manufacture optimization
- Scalable production capacity — the ability to ramp from pilot production to volume manufacturing while maintaining consistent quality across every unit
Beyond the technical and operational requirements, ELEXXION needed a manufacturing partner who could bridge the gap between German engineering precision and cost-effective Asian production — delivering world-class medical devices without compromising on quality, safety, or innovation.
Building the ELEXXION Partnership
The collaboration between SHBD and ELEXXION Group evolved through a structured four-phase approach, from initial engagement to full production readiness. Here's how the partnership was built:
Joint Design & Engineering Review
SHBD's Kingmade engineering team conducted a comprehensive design-for-manufacture analysis of ELEXXION's claros® laser platform. Working directly with German R&D staff, we identified opportunities to optimize component geometries for precision machining, improve assembly efficiency, and reduce production costs while maintaining the device's clinical performance specifications. This phase established the technical foundation for the entire partnership.
Precision Manufacturing & Assembly Line Setup
Leveraging SHBD's multi-technology manufacturing capabilities, we established dedicated production lines for the claros® device's precision components — including CNC-machined chassis parts, optical mounting brackets, cooling system manifolds, and control panel enclosures. An ISO-compliant clean assembly area was configured for final device integration, ensuring the sensitive laser optics and electronics were assembled in a controlled environment.
Quality Validation & Medical Compliance
Every claros® unit underwent rigorous quality control aligned with medical device standards. This included CMM dimensional verification of all precision components, laser output power calibration at 50W, safety system functional testing, and full device operational validation. SHBD implemented traceability protocols covering every component and assembly step, providing complete documentation for ELEXXION's regulatory compliance requirements.
Production Ramp & Continuous Supply
With validated processes and quality systems in place, SHBD ramped to full production volume, delivering assembled and tested claros® units to ELEXXION's global distribution network. An ongoing supply partnership was established with regular production cycles, quality data sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives — ensuring that every device leaving SHBD's facility meets the exacting standards of German dental laser engineering.
